Samuel’s digital twin team has extensive experience developing digital twin models utilizing laser scanning and related CAD and database technologies. Our services support our diverse multi‐discipline engineering and design groups as well as providing our client’s laser scan data and CAD modelling for their own consumption. Industries served include heavy industrial, refining, oil and gas, mining, and mine‐processing.
Laser scanning and scan data indemnification
Laser scanning and the resulting point cloud data provides a highly accurate representation of a facility’s as-built dimensions. Efforts will be made to acquire a fully comprehensive representation of the facility. Gaps in the data will exist due to the nature of technology and the inability to completely visualize all assets from all points of view.
While there is an explicit accuracy of a discreet point derived from the laser scanner, environmental and other variables associated with the scan data, the scan data processing, and the CAD modeling, will dictate the ultimate dimensional accuracy of the derived deliverables including the point cloud model and the 3D as-built CAD model. Quality control efforts for the scan data processing and CAD modeling will be utilized to minimize errors.
