Located adjacent to Denver's Jefferson Park, the RiverClay project was a mixed-use sustainable redevelopment, infusing the historic neighborhood with the energy of a sophisticated high-performance structure.
To meet City requirements, the neighborhood planning group was engaged by the development team in a collaborative approach to fulfilling localized visions for the area. This synergy became integral to the design and approvals process.
RiverClay embodies sensible sustainability, employing technologies such as the 10-kilowatt roof-mounted solar array and high-efficiency windows and furnaces. The array provides enough power to light and cool nearly 80% of the building's common areas and parking garage. In addition, substantial design effort concentrated on storm water management, culminating in a sub grade detention system, located beneath the surface of the parking garage.
RiverClay earned the "Residential Project of the Year" in 2008, awarded by the University of Denver and DMCAR. The project was also featured in the August 2009 issue of Urban Land Magazine, highlighting its unique sustainable features.
The typical residential unit at RiverClay is 38% more energy efficient than a comparable non-LEED residence.
